It was a tough scoring day on Sunday as a full field competed for the Armistice Cup. It was David Blair who took the top spot with a nett 70. David was one under for the back nine and despite finishing with consecutive bogey's he finished one ahead of Billy Walton who pipped Gareth Morse to the runner-up spot on countback. Paul MacNaught took fourth place with a nett 72.
The first Jack Frost of the season saw the husband & wife team of Julie & Steve Richardson take top spot with a score of 38pts. Runners-up were Ben Price & Dewanne Puddick with 35pts with Julian & Liz Martinez-Gray in third place on countback with 34pts.

Rob Vinter was very keen on a new range of putters from Scotty Cameron called Cameron & Crown. This range has several to choose from, so he came for a putter fitting to determine which putter would be best. Rob feels putting is a strength of his game and was not looking for a radical change to his style. He wanted to make sure that the tool he was carrying was ideally suited for his putting stroke.
When fitting a putter we ensure that a golfer is using the correct length, lie, loft, head style, head balance and grip type. Using our state of the art SAM PuttLab fitting system we observed Rob hitting several putts and assessed his requirements.
Rob's current putter was originally a 35 inch with a 71 degree lie angle. The fitting showed that the style he feels comfortable using (and is highly effective with) was actually more suited to a 33 inch putter with a 62 degree lie angle.
Rob was considering two types of putter head, a large face-balanced mallet and a much slimmer blade style. The blade had a 45 degree toe hang. The fitting showed that when Rob putts, the heel of his putter actually travels slightly quicker than the toe. Our recommendation was that he chose a putter with more weight in the toe to help correct this, so we actually chose one with a 60 degree toe hang (there is no way this could have been determined without the use of the SAM PuttLab).
Choosing the correct putter is crucial to your enjoyment and success in the game and a fitting will help you make the correct choices to suit your own unique style.
