Shop news

Golf Pride Putter Grips

When you are in the shop next check out our new display for SNSR Golf Pride putter grips. Oversize putter grips are now all the rage, and Golf Pride may have taken the idea forwards with their new offering.

Please come in and compare against their competition and tell us if you can feel the difference.

Competition results

Congratulations to our lady captain Christine Ross who took this month's Jack Frost competition with her partner husband John shooting 38pts, the runners-up were Kim Morris & Tony Johnson with 36pts. In the overall competition (best 3 scores from 5 events) with one event left to play, Jane Skynner & Richard Tomlin are leading with 105 points from Dewanne Puddick & Ben Price on 101. We'll see who is triumphant in the last competition and whether it makes a difference in the overall!

There was a plethora of 34pts in the Ladies Stableford with Anne-Marie Forrester taking the top spot on countback from Janet Alldread in Division One with Elaine Tredwell taking Division Two with the same score.

It was Steve Edwards who took the Stableford on Saturday with a fine 40pts, with a trio of 39pts in close attendance. Countback decided the placings with David Brenes taking the runner-up spot from Paul Johnson in third and Peter Meehan in fourth.

Tour news

Danny Willett and Charl Schwartzel will tee it up in Kualar Lumpar alongside Lee Westwood, Rafael Cabrera Bello and 2016 Asian Tour Order of Merit winner Scott Hend.

The European Tour makes 3000+ mile trip from Dubai to Malaysia this week for the Maybank Championship in Kualar Lumpur. The event, formerly known as the Malaysian Open until 2015, is co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour and features all of the current Asian Tour Order of Merit top 10. Last year, Aussie Marcus Fraser won by two strokes from Soomin Lee and Miguel Tabeuna at Royal Selangor Golf Club. He is back to defend his title.

This week, Saujana G&CC is the host venue which has held the Malaysian Open six times, most recently in 2009 .The course is undulating and surrounded by palm trees, meaning straight driving is at a premium - plenty of fairway bunkers also await strayed tee shots. Masters champions Danny Willett and Charl Schwartzel headline the field which includes two-time Malaysian Open winner Lee Westwood.

Player watch:

Rafa Cabrera Bello, Bernd Weisberger, Jeunghun Wang, Tommy Fleetwood and 2016 Asian Tour number one.

Scott Hend - The powerful Australian won the 2016 Asian Tour Order of Merit and has picked up nine Asian Tour titles including two co-sanctioned with the European Tour. He is definitely one to watch in this part of the world.

Jeunghun Wang - The 21-year-old South Korean is tipped for greatness, having already picked up three European Tour titles, including the recent Qatar Masters. Despite missing the cut in Dubai last week he is still one of the highest-ranked players in the field.
