Results from the course... A big weekend at the club as both the Men’s and Ladies Club Championships were played with some great stories and fine scoring being created. In the Bill Marriott Scratch Championship it was Dan Dring who enjoyed success with an excellent total of three-under-par which included a very fine 68 on Sunday over the East Course which followed an even par seventy on the West on Saturday. The runner-up spot was taken by Mike Jackson. Mike was a five handicapper going into the weekend but a fine 70 on day one saw him right in the mix, how must he have been feeling then to have been four under par standing on the sixteenth tee and level with Dan? Unfortunately three consecutive bogies to finish dashed his hopes of victory. A further three shots back was Danny Smith on 144. I’m sure Mike consoled himself with the fact that he ran away with The Lightfoot Handicap Trophy by a full seven strokes returning the complement to runner-up Dan Dring who beat Shufeng Cao on countback both having shot 137 nett. It was a really close finish in the Ladies Championship with Kim Morris pipping Megan Roberts to win The Galbraith Trophy with Nancy O’Connor taking third place. In the Nett Ladies it was Wendy Yuen who shot a fine total of 142 to take the Todd Salver from Judith Houghton with Lelia Roche-Kelly taking third place. |
